Deborah Cromeans Ramos' work reflects her self- taught rural background. According to her mother, she started artwork as soon as she could hold a pencil and never stopped. She won first place in State Competition in Mississippi for painting when she was just 15 and has won awards in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arizona. She has been represented by Galleries in Mississippi, Alabama, and Arizona. She has also been privately commissioned for oil portraits of prominent Senators, Business men and women and political figures. Deborah has private clients all over the United States, including well known authors of today. Her work career limited her art production to a sideline until 2008.
From 2008- 2015 she was successful with out-of-state art shows until a muscle disease paralyzed her in late 2015. From that time and through her road to recovering mobility she just started showing again in 2024. Although missing the traveling, she now shows close to home in occasional events.
"All my work in is oil on either wood or canvas. Always I have felt close ties to nature and the earth. I enjoy a wide range of subjects with landscapes and animals being my favorite subjects. I paint for the pleasure it gives me and the brightened faces of my clients as they see their paintings for the first time. Producing art has always been my life, it defines who I am."
"My philosophy is very simple- to express the joy I receive seeing and working with this beautiful world around us. I make no pretense to political statements or to heighten anyone's spiritual awareness. I simply paint what inspires me because I believe that God gave this to me for a reason and I should use it and hoping that my clients will share that joy when they see my work. If I have done that, then anything else is icing on the cake and I am very grateful indeed."
