I work in the medium of collage enjoying the many tactile benefits of the art form that give me permission to collect, to tear, to touch, to play. I use a combination of handmade and manufactured papers and re-purposed materials, pencils, paint and found objects. I am always on the lookout for that perfect something to add an element of surprise and whimsey into my art. A self-proclaimed “bird nerd” and “map geek”, I spend a lot of time (and money) feeding the birds that visit me in my backyard sanctuaries as well as seeking native birds in my travels. I am fortunate to have amassed quite a collection of old maps from estate sales, generous customers and the local library sorting room…but I am always on the lookout for more! Over the past few years my work has featured crows and ravens as the central figure. A native of the Pacific Northwest (Edmonds, WA) and a snowbird (Yuma, AZ), my fascination with birds has grown over the years as I have expanded my work to include many of the species I encounter through travel and residence. My work invites the viewer to look closer at what might appear to be common and mundane to see many layers and interesting details that are not seen at a distance. I enjoy showing my work at regional juried art festivals and have shown at several local galleries. I have done many commission pieces and welcome questions and conversation!
